I'm a Human Design 4/6 Profile, and I’m turning 52 this year. I feel fully immersed in my role model era, and I feel this in my bones every single day. When you step into it completely, your leadership becomes almost impossible to manufacture. That’s because it's built entirely from lived experience, hard-won wisdom and genuine integrity.
What Line 6 Actually Means in Human Design
Your Human Design Profile is made up of two numbers, and it acts like your personal brand. It shapes how you're designed to bring your broader purpose (your Incarnation Cross) into the world through your leadership, business and community.
Line 6 is known as the Role Model, and it's unique among all the lines. It's designed to unfold across three distinct life stages. Each one builds on the last, and each one is essential to the leader you're becoming.
First stage
From birth to around 30 years old, is the experimenting phase, during which Line 6 energy operates very much like a Line 3. It throws itself at life, gathering experiences, making what most people would call mistakes, whilst accumulating the raw material of wisdom. Those mistakes are good, and failure is good, because it's how we learn and grow. It builds the kind of knowing that can't be taught from a book or a course.
Second stage
From around 30 to 50 years old, is what Human Design calls “climbing onto the roof of life”. Instead of being in the thick of it, you begin to observe life from a different angle, gaining perspective, reflecting on everything you experienced in the first 30 years. You’re also watching others go through similar experiences with a depth and distance that simply wasn't available to you before. Many Line 6 women tell me that when they hit 30, they felt a shift they couldn't explain. They judged themselves harshly for it, wondering what was wrong with them. In fact, nothing was wrong, and they were simply entering their “roof phase”, right on time.
Third stage
From around 50 years old onwards is where you enter the role model era. Here, you slide off “the roof” and re-engage with life as someone who's genuinely earned their wisdom. The authority you carry in this phase is embodied rather than performed, and that distinction changes everything.
Why Authenticity Is Non-Negotiable for Line 6 Leaders
People can feel when you’re out of integrity, by feeling rather than seeing it, which can directly impact your credibility, visibility and ultimately your business growth.
Have you ever been on a sales call with a coach or mentor who was saying all the right words, but something felt off? You couldn't quite put your finger on it, but you knew, from a feeling in your body, that this wasn't the right person for you. That's you trusting your inner authority, despite being in the presence of someone who's been highly trained to say particular things, follow a script and present an image that may not be a true reflection of who they actually are.
As a Line 6, if you're out of alignment between what you teach and how you live, people will feel it, and it'll cost you your credibility, authority, and their trust. This is why practising what you preach is the foundation of your entire business as a Line 6 leader. I've had to hold my hand up to myself in the past and ask honestly, “Am I taking my own medicine? Am I living the things I teach?” When the answer was “No”, it showed, and when it became “Yes”, my business transformed.

Confidence
For a Line 6, your confidence is built by knowing yourself deeply enough that you can speak from your heart rather than following someone else's strategy. You do not need a script, and you stand for what you believe in without apology, leading with the full weight of everything you've lived and learned. When you try to build your business by following an approach that was designed for someone else's energy, your confidence erodes because you're always performing rather than being. That’s because the mask, no matter how carefully constructed, eventually falls off. When you lead from your authentic self, actual experiences, and genuine values, your confidence becomes something that nobody can take from you.

I started my business 10 years ago at the same time as many other women in this space.
