Human Design Visibility Blocks: Confidence and Self-Image
When You Don’t Feel Like Showing Up
If you’re an entrepreneurial woman, a visionary, a coach, or a leader in your field, you already know the importance of visibility. Being seen builds trust. It attracts opportunities. It fuels momentum in your business. But what happens when you simply don’t feel like showing up?
I’m not just talking about skipping one Instagram post or moving a meeting. I’m talking about those stretches of time—days, weeks, even months when the energy just isn’t there. You look in the mirror and something feels off. Your body doesn’t feel the same. Your clothes don’t fit the way they used to. The confidence that once felt effortless is nowhere to be found.
If that resonates, this blog is for you.
Visibility Isn’t Always About Strategy
When people hear I’m a visibility expert, they often assume I’ll be the one telling them to push through resistance. Show up no matter what. Get visible daily, even when you don’t feel like it.
That’s not how I work.
True visibility has nothing to do with pushing yourself beyond your capacity. It’s not about pretending everything’s fine or overriding your body’s wisdom. It’s about understanding what’s actually happening, energetically, emotionally and physically, when your visibility dips.
That’s where Human Design becomes invaluable. Your chart holds the blueprint for your energy. It shows you where your natural confidence lives, where you’re here to express, and where you might carry conditioning that blocks your ability to show up fully.
Why You Might Be Pulling Back
I recently had a conversation with one of my long-term clients, a powerful, sought-after speaker and multi-seven-figure business owner. We’ve worked together for years on her visibility, and she’s now at a stage where she’s maintaining a much higher level of external recognition and responsibility.
She’s hosting her own events. Speaking on international stages. Leading a team. Holding space for big energy and big impact.
And yet, she still has days where she wants to hide. Days when the idea of being seen feels heavy. Days when the mirror reflects someone unfamiliar.
During one of our calls, we spoke openly about how self-image, especially as women, can impact visibility. Our bodies change. Our weight fluctuates. Our appearance evolves with age, hormones, life circumstances. And even when we know these things are normal, they can trigger a deep resistance to showing up.
Especially when visibility feels intertwined with being polished, camera-ready or “on.”
It’s Not Just You
Let me say this clearly: there’s nothing wrong with you if you feel resistance to being visible.
We’ve been taught to be our own worst critics. We carry generational and cultural messaging about appearance, value and worthiness. We’ve watched confident, outspoken women be judged, silenced or ridiculed. That doesn’t just go away when you start a business.
So if you’ve found yourself pulling back, avoiding photos, skipping events, not pitching yourself, hesitating to speak up, this is your invitation to pause and get curious. The goal isn’t to push through. The goal is to understand what’s underneath that resistance so you can move through it with compassion.
The Cost of Hiding
When you consistently avoid being seen, the energy in your business begins to stagnate. Fewer conversations. Less engagement. Fewer opportunities. Less money.
That’s not because you’ve failed. It’s because your energy flow has slowed down.
Visibility is energetic. When you’re connected to your purpose and moving in alignment, people feel that. They respond to your presence. The right conversations happen. The right people arrive. That’s how growth works.
But when your self-doubt silences your expression, the energetic current slows. And in business, that has consequences.
Four Ways to Move Through Visibility Blocks
If you’ve been in a visibility dip, whether it’s a brief moment or a long stretch, these four practices can help you reconnect to your confidence, your purpose and your presence.
1. Understand Your Human Design
Your Human Design shows you how your energy works, where your confidence lives and where you may feel inconsistent or sensitive. For example, if you have an open or undefined Heart Centre, your willpower and sense of self-worth may fluctuate.
Your chart reveals where you shine effortlessly and where you’re most conditioned. Learning how your energy operates gives you permission to lead, create and show up in ways that are actually sustainable.
If your body doesn’t feel like showing up, there’s wisdom in that. Human Design teaches us to listen to our bodies, not override them. So if your energy is saying no, honour that pause. Then get curious about what your energy is trying to show you.
2. Practice Compassionate Self-Forgiveness
If you're judging yourself every time you show up, how you look, how you sound, what you said, you’ll start to avoid it. The voice of inner criticism becomes louder than your purpose.
That’s why one of the most transformative practices I guide my clients through is a 30-day journey of compassionate self-forgiveness. It’s deep. It’s humbling. And it often brings up emotions you didn’t expect.
But this work clears space. It removes the self-judgment that keeps you frozen. It allows you to show up without burning yourself at the stake every time.
You’re not here to attack yourself. You’re here to honour your wisdom, your softness, your power.
3. Style the Body You Have Now
I trained at the London College of Fashion nearly a decade ago. Styling was my first love after leaving corporate. And I still believe that personal style is one of the most powerful visibility tools we have.
Because when you feel good in your clothes, you hold yourself differently. You speak with more certainty. You soften into your presence.
As our bodies change, our style needs to adapt. If you’ve been avoiding being seen because nothing in your wardrobe feels aligned, it’s time to reassess.
You deserve to feel beautiful, powerful and comfortable in the body you’re in today.
4. Embrace Imperfection as Magnetic
Perfect isn’t magnetic. Authenticity is.
We’re drawn to people who are grounded in themselves. We resonate with the ones who are willing to be seen. Flaws, quirks and all.
Bridget Jones was a cultural phenomenon for a reason. Her messy moments were relatable. Her vulnerability created connection. She gave permission for imperfection to be seen, and we loved her for it.
You don’t need to polish yourself to be worthy of the spotlight. You need to anchor into who you are, exactly as you are, and trust that your people will find you.
And they will. But only if you show up.
True Visibility Is Energy First
True visibility is about how you feel when you enter the room, whether that room is physical or digital. It’s about the energy you carry. The presence you bring. The truth you allow yourself to embody.
When you’re grounded in your Human Design, when you’ve softened your inner judgement, when you’re dressed in a way that makes you feel like you, everything shifts. The visibility becomes natural. The confidence returns. The energy flows.
And so does the success.
