Trust Your Design: How to Take Courageous Business Leaps
I’ve done it three times in my life, at ages 16, 31 and 42, choosing freedom and alignment every single time. In 10 years of building a thriving global business, the one thing that’s made every leap possible is Human Design.
Wherever you are in your business right now, this blog will give you the three things that make every leap possible and show you how to find them in your Human Design.
So many brilliant, capable, deeply intelligent women get stuck at certain points in their business, when they’re in a period of expansion, waiting for certainty that never actually arrives. Their inner voice says, “The timing's wrong”. “The risk is too great”. “The leap is too far”.

The women I constantly work with tell me that they really want to take that leap to a new level of their business, but every excuse they can think of stops them from doing so.
This year, I’m celebrating 10 years in business. When I look back at what’s created longevity and growth, where so many incredible women who started alongside me have since walked away from their dreams, my secret to success has been simply consistent, courageous, and aligned leaps of faith.
Human Design has been and continues to be, the compass that I use to guide me through every single one of the leaps of faith I’ve experienced.
Now let’s explore the three things that have made every leap possible for me, how they map directly onto my Human Design chart and how you can use yours to do the same in your business and your life.
Growth Requires The Leap
In the 10 years of building, leading and growing my business, I’ve learnt that growth lives on the other side of each leap. Expansion requires risk. Staying safe, waiting for certainty and making only the decisions that feel comfortable, guarantees staying exactly where you are.
Maybe you’ve built a multiple six-figure business through sheer intelligence and drive. Something in you knows there’s a next level that your current way of operating will never reach. The CEO era you’re moving into requires a different kind of decision that’s rooted in alignment rather than effort
Maybe you’re two or three years into your business, and you can feel the next level calling, you can’t ignore this. That next level is on the other side of the leap you keep talking yourself out of.
Perhaps you’ve spent decades being brilliant in someone else’s framework, and the business you’re now building is the truest expression of who you actually are. Your visibility, message, and the clients you’re here to serve are all waiting for you to fully step into the leap your whole life has been preparing you for.
Whichever of these scenarios relates to you, it’s essential to surround yourself with people who hold you to your highest potential, see through your excuses and call you forward rather than confirm your fears. That’s the kind of community that will make leaping feel possible for you.
My Three Biggest Leaps of Faith
When I reflect on my life, three leaps stand out above all others. Each one shaped what followed, but unbeknownst to me at that time were all clearly written in my Human Design chart.
Leap One: Leaving a Cult at 16
I was raised as a Jehovah’s Witness, and at age 16, I decided to leave and walk away from everything I’d known. My community, friends, family, basically my entire world.
That leap was driven by above else my value of freedom. In my Human Design chart, my Incarnation Cross is the Right Angle Cross of Explanation, which means my life purpose is to vocalise individual expression. Knowing this now uncovered the true reason why I couldn’t have stayed in the Jehovah’s Witness community. Every woman I work with who discovers her Incarnation Cross has had that same moment of recognition of why they didn’t stay and moved on from a specific part of their life
Leap Two: Leaving My Life Overseas at 31
After 10 years working overseas as a holiday rep and living in a different country every six months, I decided to leave. Within two days, I found myself with no job, no home, and £600 overdrawn in my bank account.
Being really honest with you, I made that decision from heartbreak and betrayal.
Whilst I’m grateful I made that leap when I did, on reflection, the experience showed me the cost of deciding from an emotional high or low. If I’d known about my Emotional Authority in my Human Design at the time, I’d have waited for the calm before deciding. Whilst this wouldn’t have necessarily changed my decision, it would’ve been made from a place of clarity, holding me in good stead for similar situations in the future.
Leap Three: Leaving Corporate at 42
I had a highly successful, very well-paid, deeply respected corporate career, and yet it was suffocating me.
I was saying ”Yes” to everything, constantly trying to prove myself, and overworking with relentless drive. As a result, I developed a serious heart condition that forced me to stop and ask the question I’d been avoiding for years, “Do I really want to live like this?”
The answer was a clear and resounding “No”. So at 42, I left everything I’d built in corporate and started my business. That was 10 years ago, and it remains the most aligned decision I’ve ever made.
With my knowledge of Human Design, I can now see that my undefined Heart Centre had been in overdrive, eventually leading to my heart giving out. My polished exterior had concealed the exhaustion running beneath it. So, for my business, instead of building it through willpower and drive that cost my health and joy, I chose ease and alignment.

The Three Things That Make Every Leap Possible
When I map every significant leap back to my Human Design, there are three things that show up every single time.
1. Trust
Trust in yourself, the universe, and that you’ll catch yourself even when you can’t yet see your vision landing.
As a Projector with Emotional Authority, I’ve learned to completely trust my Solar Plexus above my mind. Every decision I make begins in my body, where I wait for the calm, neutrality, and the moment where the nervousness settles, and clarity arrives.
I also work very closely with Source and my guides. The universe has caught me every single time I’ve leapt in alignment with my Human Design.
Your Human Design experimentation becomes your greatest business asset. The more you understand your Inner Authority and practise trusting it, the more your decisions will land. Scarcity and self-doubt begin to dissolve when you stop deciding from your head and start deciding from your body.
2. Values
Every leap I’ve ever taken has been values-led, with my top three values being freedom, love and diversity.
I run every major decision through these three filters, asking myself:
“Will this create freedom for myself and others?”
“Am I leading with love or with fear?”
“Will this bring more diversity into my life and the lives of the people I serve?”
In my Human Design, my Channel of Synthesis makes me deeply attuned to the needs and desires of communities. My Channel of Logic means I question and challenge until I find the right solution. My Kitchens environment means I thrive when I’m surrounded by diverse, warm, nourishing communities of people.
When your values and your Human Design design align, your decision-making will transform from an exhausting mental exercise into a clear and embodied knowing.
3. Community
Every single time I’ve leapt in the past, there’s been a community there to land into.
When I came back to the UK with nothing, my oldest friend took me in. When I left corporate, I had a mastermind of women who believed in my vision before I fully did. When I invest in my business today, I’ve got a team and a community that hold me to my highest potential.
The Expansion Circle exists because of this. I know what it means to have women around you who see your potential clearly, won’t validate your fear and call you forward when staying small feels safer.
As Alice in Wonderland reminds us, “The secret, Alice, is to surround yourself with people who make your heart smile. Only then will you discover Wonderland.”

How to Use Your Human Design to Map Your Own Leaps
Here’s the reflection exercise I use in my own business and recommend to every woman I work with.
Begin by looking back at the significant leaps you’ve already taken in your life and business. The moments when you chose the unknown and where you trusted yourself.
Now open your Human Design chart and ask yourself these three questions.
What does my Inner Authority reveal about how I was making those decisions? Were you deciding from your emotional wave, gut response, or intuitive whisper? Were you aligned with your authority or moving against it?
What do my Channels and Centres show about the patterns of my success? Where do you see your Human Design reflected in the decisions that worked? In the leaps that landed exactly as they were meant to?
What does my Incarnation Cross reveal about the leaps I’m here to take? Your Incarnation Cross is your life purpose. The leaps calling to you from your soul are almost certainly aligned with it.
This reflection is a powerful act of recognition that your Human Design has already been running through every chapter of your life. This exercise simply makes it visible so you can trust it fully as you move forward.
Your Profile and the Leaps You Are Designed to Take
Your Human Design Profile gives you profound context for how you’re specifically designed to move through life and business.
As a 4/6 Projector, my design tells me I was built to live life fully and gather wisdom through experience from ages 0 to 30. From 30-52 to withdraw and observe from the rooftop of life, and now at 52 to step fully into my Role Model years. This is now where I share everything I’ve lived, learned and alchemised with the women I’m here to guide.
Every leap I’ve taken makes complete sense through this lens. The boldness of my twenties was my design living itself out. The corporate years were my rooftop, gathering wisdom. The business I’ve built over the last 10 years is exactly what a 4/6 Role Model is here to create. This is a path that others can follow because I’ve already walked it first.
Your Profile holds the same intelligence. If you’re 3/5, you’re here to learn through trial and error and build wisdom through lived experience. As a 2/4, you’re here to be called out of your natural gifts by the right people at the right time. If you’re a 1/3, you build a deep foundation of knowledge before your leap becomes possible. This demonstrates that every Profile within Human Design is perfectly designed for the journey it’s on. You just have to completely trust and follow it.
What Becomes Possible When You Lead From Alignment
When your leaps are aligned with your Human Design, values and a community that holds you accountable, an amazing transformation will take place.
The right opportunities will arrive, the right clients find you already aligned, and the investments you make land because they’re rooted in your energetic blueprint rather than based on a borrowed strategy.
Clarity replaces confusion, and confidence replaces doubt. The 3am second-guessing dissolves because your decisions are coming from your body’s wisdom rather than your mind’s fear.
Ease and flow replace the relentless drive, so your business grows because of who you are, and not because of how hard you push.

Finally, your visibility becomes a natural expression of who you are rather than a performance where your voice, cause, and gifts are fully expressed and seen.

Only you can make the leap, and you don’t have to wait for a crisis to force it, just like a heart condition forced mine in corporate.You can choose it now.
