Play Bigger in Business with Human Design Leadership

You already know what the next level looks like.

You’re clearer, bolder and more fully expressed than the version showing up in your business right now. You make decisions with conviction rather than agonising over them. You lead with authority rather than seeking validation. You show up visibly without editing yourself down to make others comfortable.

The gap between you and your future self has nothing to do with strategy, experience or how hard you’re working. It has everything to do with whether you’re willing to confront the growth edge you’ve been avoiding.

What Playing Bigger Actually Means

Playing bigger is one of those phrases that gets used a lot in business circles, but rarely do people get honest about what it actually requires. And it's an inside job.

It means making the decision you've been deferring, investing in the thing you've been hesitating over, having the conversation you've been avoiding (So powerful) and showing up in the room you've been telling yourself you're not good enough for.

Every successful woman entrepreneur I’ve ever worked with has a growth edge. A place where she can sense the next level is available, but something is keeping her from stepping into it fully.

That something is almost always one of the seven disguises of fear I teach in my work:

  1. Fear of failure

  2. Fear of rejection

  3. Fear of being found out

  4. Overattachment to control

  5. Fear of poverty

  6. Fear of betrayal

  7. Fear of losing your identity if you change

Recognising which fear is driving your resistance is the first and most important step to playing bigger.

The Role of Human Design in Playing Bigger

Human Design is your energetic blueprint, a map of how you are uniquely designed to lead, make decisions and grow your business in complete alignment with your natural energy. One of the most powerful things it reveals is how you are designed to move through your growth edges, because each Human Design type has a completely different relationship with expansion and is invited to play bigger in a completely different way.

As a Projector, playing bigger means trusting that your wisdom is valuable enough to wait for the right invitation rather than pushing your way into every opportunity. Your growth edge is often learning to value yourself enough to be still and be found, rather than constantly initiating.

As a Generator, playing bigger means following what genuinely lights you up even when it feels indulgent or impractical. Your growth edge is trusting your sacral response rather than doing what you think you should be doing, and understanding that your joy is your most powerful business strategy.

As a Manifesting Generator, playing bigger means giving yourself permission to move at your own pace, change direction when the energy shifts, and stop apologising for the breadth and speed of your vision. Your growth edge is releasing the need to justify your path to anyone, including yourself.

As a Manifestor, playing bigger means initiating from your own inner knowing and trusting that informing the people around you before you act creates more momentum. Your growth edge is releasing the need to move in secret and stepping into the full power of your bold, initiating energy.

As a Reflector, playing bigger means honouring the depth and wisdom that comes from your unique ability to reflect the health of the communities around you. Your growth edge is learning to trust your own clarity when it arrives, rather than second-guessing it because it came slowly.

Decision Making as a Leadership Skill

One of the most tangible ways playing bigger shows up is in the quality of your decisions. Women who are playing small tend to make decisions from their head, weighing every outcome, second-guessing themselves and looking for external validation before they commit. Women who are playing bigger make decisions from their body, from their Human Design Inner Authority, from a deep sense of what is aligned rather than what is simply safe.

In Human Design, your Inner Authority is your body's unique decision-making compass. For some, it's an immediate gut response. For others, it's an emotional wave that needs time to settle, and a quiet voice of knowing that speaks when the conditions are right. Learning to trust and work with your Inner Authority is one of the most practical and powerful things you can do to accelerate your growth as a leader.

When your decisions come from alignment rather than fear, your business reflects that. You stop deferring the things that matter. You stop investing in things that look good on paper but don't feel right. You stop holding yourself back from the opportunities that are genuinely calling you forward.

Growth Accelerates in the Right Room

Playing bigger is genuinely harder to do alone, and I say that as someone who spent years trying. There is a particular kind of clarity that only comes from being in a room with women who are also committed to growth, women who are operating at your level and who see your potential even more clearly than you do on the days you're struggling to see it yourself.

The right community stretches you. It calls you higher. It reflects back to you the leader you are becoming rather than the one you have been, and that reflection accelerates your growth in ways that solo work simply cannot replicate. The quality of the room you're in determines the quality of your growth, and when like-minded women with shared values gather with genuine intention, the level of what's possible rises for everyone in it.
